Terrazzo Powder Room Transformation

The Challenge

A 45 sq ft powder room is the one space every guest uses — yet the clients' bathroom was an afterthought: dated white tile wainscoting, a builder-grade vanity, and mosaic flooring that hadn't been in style since the late 1990s. For a couple who had invested heavily in the rest of their home, it was a persistent source of embarrassment.

Our Approach

Small rooms permit — and reward — bold material choices. Large-format terrazzo tiles run from floor to counter height, using a warm cream aggregate that references the home's broader palette without matching it too closely. Above the tile line, warm walnut cabinetry wraps to the ceiling, turning the room into an enveloping material experience. A wall-hung toilet freed the floor plane entirely. A backlit pill-shaped mirror floats against the wood, providing flattering ambient light that makes the room feel larger than it is.

The Result

The powder room is now the most commented-on space in the house. Guests ask about the tile before they ask anything else. A six-week renovation that touched every surface delivers a disproportionate return on impression.

Every person who visits asks about the powder room. It cost less than we expected and delivers more than we imagined.
